In my two-year-old's language "hug abyss" translates into "hug and kiss". I don't know why but these two things are inseperable in her mind. If she gives a hug it is always followed by a kiss and if she gives a kiss you can be sure those arms are going to wrap around and give a squeeze. (Maybe this won't be so cute when she starts dating). It has been this way since I can remember. I find it funny that even though she can now say the words "hug" "and" "kiss" each very plainly by themselves when joined together it is still "hug abyss". We all enjoy her requests for "hug abyss" every time we leave or put her in bed or cuddle on the couch or for no reason at all. The love of a child is one of the most wonderful gifts on this earth!
This morning in the rush to get my three school age children ready for school and out the door I vaguely remember seeing Savvy in the downstairs bathroom washing her hands, but didn't think anything more about it until forty-five minutes later. I identified an odd sound coming from down the hall. I hit the water before I had a clear realization of what it was. While washing her hands she had plugged the sink and left the water running and then moved onto her next task (mess). The entire bathroom was flooded and the water was coming down the hall. I wasn't very happy (understatement). I called her in to see her mess. She knew I was upset and her big blue eyes with true regret fixed on mine and she said, "Sorry, 'hug abyss'" and gave me a great big hug and kiss. Really who can be mad in the middle of a hug abyss?
Savanna has always been a loving child, very passionate and full of emotion. Yeah, that is a nice way to say she can throw horrible tantrums. Sometimes it feels like a high wire tight rope act we walk in order to keep her happy, but when she is happy, she is a delight to have around. Her mood sometimes feels like a summer storm in the desert--a flash flood with no warning! Other times she is warm quilt, shielding us from a winter storm. Most importantly she is part of us--an essential ingredient to the Abbott mix.
This is a picture of Flint and Savanna in February 2009. This picture speaks to her overly affectionate spirit.

Love that Affectionate little spirit. She really is the sweetest when she is sweet:) Sorry about your mess this morning. Maybe it's a good thing we didn't come out, her and Logan would have been a pair today I'm afraid!!!!
